Appointment of Head of Internal Audit and Chief Risk Officer of WeLab Bank

(Hong Kong) - Welab Bank Limited (“WeLab Bank”) announced the appointment of Mr. Anthony Wai as the Head of Internal Audit with effect from 2 December 2019, and Mr. Joseph Kwok as the Chief Risk Officer with effect from 3 February 2020.Anthony joined WeLab Bank in July 2019. He has more than 14 years of professional internal and external audit experience in financial institutions through serving various roles in Standard Chartered Bank (“SCB”) and Ernst and Young. Prior to joining WeLab Bank, he was the senior audit manager in SCB leading the Retail Banking audit portfolio.Anthony holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a Certified Public Accountant in Hong Kong.Joseph joined WeLab Bank in February 2020. He has over 25 years of professional experience in risk management, governance and audit areas. He joined WeLab Bank from SCB where his last position held was Regional Head of Business Risk Management, Retail Banking, Greater China & North Asia. In his past 12 years with SCB, Mr. Kwok had held various senior positions in the Retail Banking business such as Regional Head of AML/CDD and Governance, Head of Client Experience, Head of Risk & Governance and Head of Operational Risk. Prior to SCB, Mr. Kwok held various senior roles at AIA/AIG Group and Zurich Insurance.Joseph holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Toronto. He also obtained Chartered Accountant (Canada) and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.
